Apartment MK – Botanical Garden, Rio de Janeiro / 2012
Despite the 362m² area of this apartment with 4 suites and a huge living room, the owner and the young daughter used almost only their private rooms and the kitchen because of the truncated circulation, with many corridors and dark areas that did not invite the use of its other areas.
The corridors were eliminated and only the walls that ensure the privacy of each resident were accepted – the main suite integrates with the social area through large sliding panels, while the daughter won a private bedroom and living room with the union of two of the original suites.
The remainder of the apartment has gained frank spatial integration, with sliding panels recovering, when necessary, the separation of kitchen and / or dining room.
The work place of the owner, an extremely active professional, has been designed and located in a way to be a kind of “pivot”, and is in the “heart” of the apartment, where you can enjoy the views of the “green” environment.
Today there is no space left unused and the “meeting” has been facilitated.
The intervention extended to the design of several furniture and fittings, kitchen, including bookshelves and the redesign of the sofas.
