Settler House Recovery / 2017
Bocaina mountain – Minas Gerais
In a farm at 1,300 meters of altitude and 230 km from Rio de Janeiro, the owners requested the recovery of a settler’s house in ruins. The structure, walls, windows and doors have been recovered, in addition to all the roofing with ceramic tiles. The wooden floor was redone and the basement, originally used for utensils and shelter of small animals, had its floor lowered to provide the necessary height to create two suites.
The main, upper area had its internal distribution rearranged to contain living room and kitchen separated only by stove and wood oven, a bedroom and a bathroom, maintaining original features and dimensions of windows and doors.
They were installed, heating system generated by gas central and electric power through photovoltaic panels. An adjacent building, whose original use we did not identify, has been reclaimed to provide an external, covered living space with table, sink and pizza oven.
