MCLM house – Jardim Botânico – RIO / 1996
Reform and Enlargement
The house, whose project was awarded in the 60’s, no longer met the needs of the owner.
The main functions of the house were on the upper floor, the ground floor being used by two garages, laundry, locker rooms and a guest suite.
The living and dining rooms were moved downstairs, where we had to replace the structural support walls with 5 metal porches, which now support the house, thus obtaining the necessary spaces.
For the kitchen, we had to occupy a space between the house and the high wall at the west side of the land.
An area with transparent glass roof was created, facing the swimming pool, redesigned to have a 20 m long swimming lane.
