Pantanal, is a biome consisting mainly of a steppe savannah, mostly flooded, with 250 thousand square kilometers of extension, average altitude of 100 meters. Because it is a flat terrain, it facilitates flooding.

It is situated in the south of Mato Grosso state and in the northwest of Mato Grosso do Sul state.

The region considered by UNESCO as World Natural Heritage and Biosphere Reserve, located in the region of the Pantanal National Park.
